This is a story about the Muse Melpomene. It is the first book in the Stories of Megisti Kastellorizo series.  It is a story about the Muse of Tragedy and Song inspiring a young boy, Andonis, to perform a great deed on the island of Megisti Kastellorizo.

Melpomene has lost the precious medallion given to her by her love Kleftis. It is somewhere deep in the sea around Megisti-Kastellorizo. Melpomene sits on a rock weeping because she cannot swim, and so she cannot dive into the ocean to find the lost medallion. The young boy Andonis sees her crying and, after hearing her tale, asks if there is anything he can do to help her. Since Andonis is a good swimmer he offers to accept the challenge and to help find the medallion. Calling his dolphin friends Andonis dives into the deep blue waters of Navlaka Bay to find Melpomene’s medallion and make her happy again. Andonis and the dolphins swim around the island searching for the medallion, but the water is deep and cold and Andonis is struggling to hold his breath, and the deeper he swims the darker it becomes.

Will Andonis be able to help the beautiful muse of Tragedy and Song find her precious medallion? Can one little boy achieve this heroic quest and so make Melpomene happy again?
